The Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest

The election for the third Mr Puppy UK was held during the Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest, on Saturday 2 December 2017 in Manchester.

The contest was held jointly across multiple venues, beginning at Kennel Klub before moving onto Club Collared, and finally Club Alert!

Our welcome reception was held at REM Bar, and our welcome tour to introduce the new Mr Puppy UK 2018 to the community was held across Manchester's Canal Street village.

The contest took place over a full day on Saturday 2 December 2017, with additional welcome activities on Friday evening, and closing activities on Sunday morning.

The pups who were interested to join the contest made themselves available for the full weekend, including a welcome reception on Friday and a village tour on Sunday. There was lots to do, and we filled the programme with as much fun and activity as we could!

It's a big deal to join the contest and offer yourself. Every pup who competes is special, and every pup who competes encourages others. We support all of you!

So What's It Like?

The Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest (that's its full name!) is a big experience. And we do mean big.

It's held across different venues in Manchester's Canal Street area. That way, as many people and organisations as possible get to be a part of it. We're electing the representative for the UK's pup scene, and it's a community effort!

We'll invite you to present yourself in the manner of your choosing to all the pups who've come to watch and support.

We'll invite you to show us how you play and interact with other pups, in human mode and in puppy mode.

We'll invite you to sit down with a panel of judges and let them get to know you through an in-depth yet laid-back interview.

We'll invite you to show your stuff with a performance of something puppy – whatever that means to you – in front of everyone.

And we'll invite you to show how well you play as a puppy, or how well you handle other puppies, in a structured environment.

Don't worry – we keep the whole contest lively and fun, and we're all there to support you. We believe in you, and we want to give you a fantastic weekend!

So What Do I Need?

The Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest is not a gear or fashion contest. Wear what you feel comfortable and pup in! Each pup is different, and each of you might gear up differently as a pup, and that's ok with us. There are a few items you'll need, and the rest is up to what works for you.

Required Gear

You'll need suitable protective gear. This includes boots or sturdy footwear, and knee pads or knee protectors for when you're on all fours.

You'll need to wear at least a jockstrap or shorts: we do not permit frontal nudity at any time. You'll also need to comply with venue requirements on coverage.

We recommend paws or mitts to protect your hands when you're on all fours. If you wish to retain the use of your fingers, we recommend training or MMA type gloves.

We recommend a pup or dog collar as well. They're fun and simple ways to express your personality, as well as letting others know your pup name. You can get your own name tag as well!

And though you don't need a hood or mask, we really do recommend them. They're great for getting into pup headspace. If you don't have a hood or mask yet but would like one, why not take a look at some playful and fun options for a custom hood?

Some pups may choose to wear a plug tail. That's fine with us: tails are welcome but aren't required.

Some pups join the contest fully geared-up, and some pups join in minimal gear. That's all fine. Gear up according to how you see yourself, and in what you're comfortable with.

So How Do I Win?

You don't, actually. Nobody wins this contest; we don't declare a winner.

One pup will be given the title of Mr Puppy UK 2018, which will be his to direct throughout the 2018 calendar year. This will be decided by a panel of judges, carefully selected from across the Leather, Rubber, and Pups communities, as well as by the support of everyone who comes to attend the contest. Neither the Mr Puppy Team nor the sponsors play any role in choosing the incoming title holder.

Several pups will be recognised with a variety of cool and fun prizes from our sponsors, including a particularly special prize from Wruff Stuff. There's lots of neat stuff on offer.

Everyone who competes will be given something fun in recognition of their contribution. Everyone in the contest goes home with something!

But it's not about who wins. Everyone wins. It's about having fun, giving of yourself as much as you're able, and creating a wonderful experience for yourself, for the other contestants, and for all of the pups and friends and every else who've come to watch and support.

How About Coming To Watch Or Support?

Interested to come and support your fellow pups, or to come and watch and join in the fun of being there? Come along!

Whoever is welcome at our host venues is welcome to come and watch, support, cheer, play along, and have fun with the team and the pups at the Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest.

If you'd like more information about Kennel Klub, Club Collared, or Club Alert! you'll find it on their webpages.

There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to take part, including contest components that involve everybody attending, whether or not you're in the contest! You'll also have the opportunity to cast a vote for the pup of your choice during our audience participation segment.

The goal is fun for everybody in attendance, and we'll be working hard to give you as much of that as we can!
