The contests held to elect Mr Puppy UK are not gear or fashion contests, nor are they about how you look. Wear what you feel comfortable and pup in! Each pup is different, and each of you might gear up differently as a pup, and that's ok with us. There are a few items you'll need, and the rest is up to what works for you.
You'll need suitable protective gear. This includes boots or sturdy footwear, and knee pads or knee protectors for when you're on all fours.
You'll need to wear at least a jockstrap or shorts: we do not permit frontal nudity at any time. You'll also need to comply with venue requirements on coverage.
We recommend paws or mitts to protect your hands when you're on all fours. If you wish to retain the use of your fingers, we recommend training or MMA type gloves.
We recommend a pup or dog collar as well. They're fun and simple ways to express your personality, as well as letting others know your pup name. You can get your own name tag as well!
And though you don't need a hood or mask, we really do recommend them. They're great for getting into pup headspace. If you don't have a hood or mask yet but would like one, why not take a look at some playful and fun options for a custom hood?
Some pups may choose to wear a plug tail, and some pups may choose a show tail instead. That's fine with us: tails are welcome but aren't required.
Some pups join the contest fully geared-up, and some pups join in minimal gear. That's all fine. Gear up according to how you see yourself, and in what you're comfortable with.
You don't, actually. Nobody wins this contest: we don't declare a winner.
One pup will be given the title of Mr Puppy UK 2019, which will be his to direct throughout the 2019 calendar year. This will be decided by a panel of judges, carefully selected from across the Leather, Rubber, and Pups communities, as well as by the support and the votes of everyone who comes to attend the contest. Neither the Mr Puppy Team nor the sponsors play any role in choosing the incoming title holder.
Several pups will be recognised with a variety of cool and fun prizes from our sponsors, including a particularly special prize from Wruff Stuff. There's lots of neat stuff on offer.
Everyone who competes will be given something fun in recognition of their contribution. Everyone in the contest goes home with something!
But it's not about who wins. Everyone wins – really. It's about having fun, giving of yourself as much as you're able, and creating a wonderful experience for yourself, for the other contestants, and for all of the pups and friends and every else who've come to watch and support.
Interested to come and support your fellow pups, or to come and watch and join in the fun of being there? Come along! All pups are welcome.
Whether you'd like to participate in the contest, come along to support your friends, play with the pups, or just have a great time, we'd love to welcome you to come and watch, support, cheer, play along, and have fun with the team and the pups at the Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2019 Contest.
If you'd like more information about Kennel Klub, you'll find it on their webpage.
There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to take part, including contest components that involve everybody attending, whether or not you're in the contest! You'll also have the opportunity to cast a vote for the pup of your choice during our audience participation segment.
The goal is fun for everybody in attendance, and we'll be working hard to give you as much of that as we can!
